Ely Reeves Callaway Jr. was a golfer and his favorite club was Hickory Sticks. Hickory Sticks was renowned for clubs with hickory shafts and steel cores. All of a sudden Hickory sticks were low on funds and started looking for investors and approached Mr. Callaway who just sold his vineyards. Callaway bought half of the shares in 1982 and the rest in 1984 and then changed the company name to its present name in 1988. Since then Callaway Golf Company stared its journey and gained a brand image by providing the best quality products.
